Delhi's Probable Squad for Ranji Trophy

Virat Kohli has been included in Delhi’s probable squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25, marking his first appearance in the tournament since 2018.

Alongside Kohli, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has also been named in the 84-player list released by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Kohli is Returning to Domestic Cricket?

Kohli’s inclusion has generated excitement among fans and cricket analysts alike, as he last played in the Ranji Trophy during the 2012-13 season against Uttar Pradesh.

His return is seen as a boost for Delhi’s chances in the tournament, especially given his extensive experience and proven track record at both domestic and international levels. This season, Delhi will kick off their campaign against Chandigarh on October 11.

    Impact of International Commitments

Despite their inclusion in the squad, it remains uncertain whether Kohli and Pant will participate in the matches due to their commitments with the Indian national team.

Following a Test series against Bangladesh, India is set to face New Zealand and Australia in a busy schedule that could limit their availability for domestic cricket.

The first Test against New Zealand is scheduled for October 16, just days after Delhi’s Ranji opener.

    Notable Absences and Other Probables

The list of probables also features players like Navdeep Saini, who recently showcased his skills in the Duleep Trophy.

However, veteran pacer Ishant Sharma has been notably left out of the squad, raising eyebrows among fans and analysts.

The full list of players includes a mix of experienced and emerging talents, indicating a strategic approach by the DDCA to strengthen Delhi’s lineup.
