    The SA20 auction for the 2025 edition took place on October 1 in Cape Town, marking a pivotal moment for the tournament as franchises aimed to bolster their squads ahead of the upcoming season. 

    With the SA20 2025 league set to run from January 9 to February 8, 2025, the auction showcased an array of talent, resulting in some significant player acquisitions.

    188 players, including 115 South Africans, were available for bidding, but with only 13 slots to fill across all teams, several prominent players went unsold. 

    Major Highlights from the SA20 Auction 2025

    Record-Breaking Purchases: MI Cape Town made headlines by securing South African opener Reeza Hendricks for a staggering R4.3 million, making him the most expensive player of the auction. 

    Other Notable Signings: The two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape also made a splash by signing England fast bowler Richard Gleeson for R2.3 million. Additionally, West Indies cricketer Evin Lewis was picked up by Pretoria Capitals for R1.5 million, enhancing their batting lineup.
