The Southern Super Stars clinched the title in a thrilling finish at the Legends League Cricket Season 3 Final, defeating Konark Suryas Odisha via a Super Over on October 16, 2024.

The match, held at the Baki Stadium, was a nail-biter that showcased the competitive spirit and skill of both teams.

The final match saw the Southern Super Stars set a target of 164 runs after their innings. Leading the charge, Hamilton Masakadza delivered an impressive performance, scoring 83 runs off 58 balls, including eight fours and five sixes.

Despite a strong start, the Super Stars faced challenges towards the end of their innings, losing wickets rapidly and finishing at 164 for 6.

In response, Konark Suryas Odisha matched the Super Stars’ total, also finishing with 164 runs, leading to a Super Over to determine the champion. The standout player for Odisha was Yusuf Pathan, who contributed significantly to their chase.

In the Super Over, the Southern Super Stars batted first, with captain Kedar Jadhav and Martin Guptill at the crease. Guptill’s explosive batting led to crucial runs that set a challenging target for Odisha. In response, Odisha could not chase down the required runs, giving the Southern Super Stars victory in a dramatic finish.

The bowling attack for both teams was commendable, with standout performances that kept the match tightly contested. The bowlers from both sides executed their plans effectively, leading to a balanced contest.

The match began with Konark Suryas Odisha winning the toss and opting to bowl first. This decision initially seemed advantageous as they restricted the Southern Super Stars to a manageable total.

This victory not only adds a prestigious title to the Southern Super Stars’ achievements but also highlights their growth and performance throughout the season.
