Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old cricketer from Bihar, has made headlines by becoming the youngest player ever shortlisted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction.

His remarkable journey in cricket has captured the attention of fans and selectors alike, positioning him as a potential future star in Indian cricket.

Early Life and Cricketing Journey

Vaibhav’s passion for cricket was evident from a very young age. His father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, recognized his love for the sport when he was just four years old and built a small playing area in their backyard to nurture his talent.

By the age of nine, Vaibhav was enrolled in a cricket academy in Samastipur, where his exceptional skills quickly became apparent.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Key Milestones

  • Vinoo Mankad Trophy: At 12, he made a significant impact in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Bihar, scoring approximately 400 runs in five matches. This performance showcased his ability to compete at higher levels.
  • Youth Test Match: In September 2024, Vaibhav represented India U-19 in a youth Test match against Australia held in Chennai, where he scored an impressive 104 runs off just 62 balls, further establishing his credentials as a budding star.
  • Ranji Trophy Debut: In January 2024, he made history by becoming the second-youngest player to feature in a Ranji Trophy match for Bihar, debuting at just 12 years and 284 days.

IPL 2025 Auction Inclusion

Vaibhav’s name appears as the 491st entry in the uncapped batter category for the IPL 2025 auction

While his first-class statistics show modest numbers—100 runs across 10 innings with a highest score of 41—his potential has not gone unnoticed.

His inclusion signifies a growing trend of franchises looking to invest in young talent who can be groomed for future success.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Recent Achievements

Recently, Vaibhav’s consistent performances earned him a spot in the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming 2024 Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE.

This opportunity will allow him to showcase his skills on an international platform and gain valuable experience.

The IPL has a history of integrating young talent into its franchises, with many players making their mark early in their careers.
