The 18th edition of the IPL Auction is set to take place on 24-25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The BCCI recently released a list of 574 players in the auction. Some names on the auction list surprise cricket fans, while other names are missing. We are here to discuss who the oldest players available this time are.
James Anderson (42y 3m)
England’s James Anderson retired from international cricket in July 2024. Fans were surprised to see his name on the auction list because he played his last T20 match in 2014 for Lancashire in the T20 Blast. For England, he played an international match in 2009. For the first time in IPL history, he put his name in for the IPL auction. But it will not be surprising if CSK bids for this legendary test specialist. CSK always focuses on experience, as they already have a 43-year-old uncapped MS Dhoni on their team.
Faf du Plessis (40y 4m)
RCB released South African batter Faf du Plessis during the retention period. He has already played for 3 franchises in the IPL. He played a total of 145 IPL matches where he scored 4,571 runs, with an average of 35.99. There is a very high chance that RCB will use RTM for Faf in the coming IPL auction. At this age, he is still a perfect T20 batter.
Mohammad Nabi (39y 10m)
This Afghan batter has always been in very high demand in T20 leagues. He has played in almost every T20 league around the world. Nabi’s off-break bowling ability, flight variations, and strong power-hitting make him a perfect T20 all-rounder. MI picked him in the last IPL edition, but he didn’t get many chances in the playing XI. For the last few years, Nabi has not been in his best form, so in. in this auction, there is a low chance that any IPL franchise will show interest in him.
