Marcus Rashford loan to Aston Villa

Once touted as the next big-thing in Manchester United, Marcus Rashford has now completed a loan deal to Aston Villa until the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season. This culminates the journey of Marcus Rashford at Manchester United for the time being and it is highly unlikely that he is going to continue at Old Trafford.

Aston Villa has an option to buy Marcus Rashford at the end of the season for an amount close to £40m. Rashford spent 20 years at Old Trafford, having joined the academy at the age of 7.

Rashford had a stunning first-team debut in 2016 as he scored twice against Midtjylland and then again scored twice in his Premier League debut against Arsenal. He scored against Australia on his debut at the age of 18, making him the youngest player from England to do so.

A sizeable amount of Rashford’s £350,000 weekly salary will be paid by the Birmingham-based team, and the contract also includes performance-based bonuses.

“I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen. I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me, but Aston Villa was an easy decision – I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the manager’s ambitions. I just want to play football and am excited to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season,” said Marcus Rashford on social media after the completion of his loan deal.

Marcus Rashford last appearance for Manchester United was on 12th December 2024

The talented striker last represented The Red Devils on 12th December 2024 in their UEFA Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen. He was dropped from the Manchester Derby on 15th December 2024 and failed to find a place in the starting XI in the games post that.

The 27-year-old forward played 287 games for Manchester United and netted 87 goals for them. He has won the FA Cup twice in 2015-16 and 2023-24. Rashford has also been a part of the title-winning squad of Manchester United in the Carabao Cup 2016-17 and 2022-23.
