IPL 2025 retirement

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been home to some of the greatest cricketers over the years.

However, as IPL 2025 approaches, many veteran players are nearing the end of their careers.

While these legends have entertained fans for years, the time may have come for them to say goodbye.

Here are three players who might retire after IPL 2025:

1. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)

MS Dhoni, also known as ‘Captain Cool,’ has been the heart and soul of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since the beginning of the IPL. Under his leadership, CSK has won multiple championships.

Dhoni has played 264 IPL matches, amassing 5,243 runs at an average of 39.13, including 24 half-centuries, with a highest score of 84*. His strike rate stands at 137.54, and he has hit 363 fours and 252 sixes.

At 43, Dhoni has taken a backseat in the batting lineup, and his appearances on the field have become limited. Many believe IPL 2025 could be his last season, marking the end of an iconic T20 career.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin (Chennai Super Kings)

Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the finest spin bowlers in cricket history. After making a name for himself with CSK, he returned to the franchise and has played a key role with both bat and ball.

Ashwin has played 210 IPL matches, scoring 808 runs, including 28 sixes and 62 fours. With the ball, he has been a consistent wicket-taker, known for his economy and ability to break partnerships.

Having already retired from international cricket, the 38-year-old might decide to step away from the IPL after the 2025 season.

3. Moeen Ali (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Moeen Ali has been a valuable player in the IPL, known for his powerful batting and useful off-spin. He was an important part of CSK but later joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Ali has played 66 IPL matches, scoring 1,162 runs, including 67 sixes and 95 fours. His ability to accelerate the scoring rate and provide crucial breakthroughs with the ball has made him a valuable player.

At 37, and having already retired from international cricket, Ali might hang up his boots after IPL 2025 to focus on personal commitments and other interests.
