SRH Struggling IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) entered IPL 2025 with high expectations, boasting a formidable lineup that includes explosive batters like Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen.

Despite their strong team composition, SRH has struggled to find consistency, currently sitting eighth in the points table with just one win from their first three matches.

Here are three key reasons why SRH is underperforming despite having one of the best teams in the league:

1. Lack of Bench Strength

One of SRH’s significant weaknesses is their limited bench strength. While their starting XI is packed with talent, the backups lack the same level of experience and quality.

Players like Kamindu Mendis, Wiaan Mulder, Eshan Malinga, and Atharva Taide are unproven at the IPL level, which can be a challenge when injuries or form issues arise.

This lack of depth means SRH often struggles to adapt when their key players are not performing.

2. Inconsistent Bowling Performance

SRH’s bowling unit has been inconsistent, failing to deliver under pressure. Despite having talented bowlers, they have struggled to restrict opponents effectively, often conceding high totals.

The absence of a reliable death bowler has been particularly problematic, as teams have managed to accelerate against SRH in the final overs.

This inconsistency has put additional pressure on their batting lineup to chase high targets or set competitive totals.

3. Over-Reliance on Key Batters

SRH heavily relies on their top-order batters, particularly Travis Head and Ishan Kishan, to drive their innings.

While these players have shown flashes of brilliance, their inconsistency has affected SRH’s overall performance.

In matches where these batters fail to fire, SRH’s middle order has struggled to step up, leading to collapses and subpar totals.

This over-reliance on a few key players makes SRH vulnerable to opposition strategies that target these batters early in the innings.
