Karun Nair’s rise in the past few years has been nothing short of a dramatic movie script. The stylish and flamboyant right-handed batter was the 2nd Indian to score a triple century in Tests, when he smashed a triple century against England in 2016.
However, as fate had it, Nair was dropped from the team after he failed to perform in a few matches against Australia at home. But in the recent past, his exemplary performances in the domestic circuit and his fabulous batting display in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has made him hog the limelight.
When he made his debut in IPL 2025 for Delhi Capitals, Karun Nair fired on all cylinders and smashed a 40-ball 89-run knock against 5-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Mumbai Indians (MI).
However, post that, Karun Nair has struggled with form and has aggregated just 65 runs in his just 5 innings in the IPL.
Former Indian cricketer and now-turned cricket commentator and pundit feels that Karun Nair has been squandering his opportunities at Delhi Capitals.
Aakash Chopra reflected on Karun Nair’s heartfelt old tweet: “Dear cricket, give me one more chance.” Chopra noted that while the game did grant Nair another opportunity, the 33-year-old hasn’t truly capitalised on it.
Despite his undeniable talent and the weight of expectations, Nair’s comeback journey has struggled to regain the spark that once made him a triple centurion for India. He was the talk of the town after his triple century and was again in the news after his exemplary performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, when he was plying his trade for Vidarbha.
