Star Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is likely ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 because of a finger injury. Maxwell had copped this blow on his finger during Punjab’s rain-marred game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 26th April 2025 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Maxwell has had a torrid time in the ongoing IPL 2025 and has flattered to deceive in the ongoing competition. The Ozzie all-rounder has managed to muster only 48 runs in the 6 innings that he has batted and has once again failed when his team needed the most out of him.
Irrespective of his poor form, we all know that Maxwell, on his given day, can be a beast and can snatch the game away from the opposition with his buccaneering batting abilities and prowess.
The skipper of Punjab Kings, Shreyas Iyer, mentioned that Maxwell has a fractured finger and young Indian uncapped all-rounder, Suryansh Shedge, is his replacement in the game versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
“It’s very unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger. To be honest, we haven’t decided about the replacements yet so far but we are pretty strong in our team’s mindset and what we have outside of our playing XI. We’ve got varieties of players who can win you matches. So we’re going to stick to that as much as possible,” said Shreyas Iyer at the toss.
Glenn Maxwell had had a horrendous start to IPL 2025
Having being bought for a lofty and a lucrative amount of Rs. 4.2 crores, there were a gamut of responsibilities on Glenn Maxwell, to perform well. But the Ozzie all-rounder once again failed at the big stage and has had a poor average of 8.00 in IPL 2025 so far, without a single fifty.
His performances have been overshadowed by the consistency displayed by the top-order of Punjab Kings and youngsters in the middle-order in the form of Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh.
Punjab Kings next lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 4th May 2025 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.
