PBKS vs DC

The unprecedented scenario of things that led to the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for a week has affected a wide range of stakeholders in the league. From broadcasters to team owners to the players to the vendors of food and beverage items outside the stadiums – the impact is huge.

Now, as per a report on ESPNcricinfo, the apex body of Indian cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has handpicked 3 venues for the remainder of the IPL. A total of 16 matches – including league stage games and knockout games – are remaining to be completed.

Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai have been selected to be the venues for the remainder of IPL – as per the report. This essentially means that the Mecca of Indian Cricket – Eden Gardens – will miss out on hosting the Qualifier 2 and Finals of the competition.

On the other hand, the Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator are supposed to be hosted by Hyderabad as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had finished as the runners-up in IPL 2025.

Although preparations are underway to keep three venues on standby, BCCI officials admitted that restarting the IPL anytime soon remains a challenge given the current circumstances. Franchise representatives were informally updated about the situation on Friday, with several team insiders suggesting that the remaining matches might be held later in the year – the report further stated.

PBKS vs DC game was stopped in between

Amidst the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the PBKS vs DC game on 8th May 2025, was stopped in the middle of the 1st innings due to a “significant technical failure” at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Following air raid alerts in nearby areas, the match was called off, keeping in mind the security reasons and the safety of the players.

Initially, it felt like there was a floodlight player. But the IPL Chairman, Mr. Arun Dhumal, immediately, started asking the fans and spectators to evacuate the entire stadium.

As the airport was shut in Dharamshala in the wake of the tensions spiralling between the two neighbouring nations, the players, support staff, broadcasters and team representatives were transported from Dharamshala to New Delhi via a Vande Bharat Train.
