LSG Release IPL 2026

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are expected to make significant changes to their squad ahead of IPL 2026 following a disappointing 2025 season.

The team’s management will be under pressure to address underperformance, recurring injuries, and the need for a refreshed core.

Check the five players LSG should consider releasing before the next auction.

1. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant was signed for a record sum, but his returns in 2025 were far below expectations.

He managed only 135 runs in 12 matches, with a strike rate of 100 and an average of 12.27. His struggles with form and inability to anchor the middle order or finish games have become a major concern.

Given his high price tag and the opportunity cost of retaining him, releasing Pant would free up significant funds for LSG to invest in more consistent performers.

2. Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav was once touted as the future of LSG’s pace attack, but his career has been repeatedly hampered by injuries.

In 2025, he played only two matches before another breakdown. The franchise’s patience with his fitness issues has not yielded results, and moving on from Yadav could allow LSG to pursue more reliable fast-bowling options.

3. David Miller

David Miller was brought in for his reputation as a finisher, but he failed to make an impact in the 2025 season.

He scored just 153 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 127.49, with a highest score of 27.

Miller’s declining form and inability to deliver in crunch situations suggest that LSG would benefit from targeting a younger, more dynamic middle-order batter.

4. Arshin Kulkarni

Despite his all-round potential, Arshin Kulkarni has not been given much of a role at LSG. He played only two games in 2024 and was benched throughout 2025.

With no clear path into the playing XI and better options available, releasing Kulkarni would be in the best interest of both the player and the franchise, giving him a chance to find opportunities elsewhere.

5. Shamar Joseph

Shamar Joseph, the West Indian pacer, did not feature in a single game during the 2025 season.

Even as LSG dealt with injuries in their bowling attack, Joseph remained on the sidelines, indicating he is not part of the team’s immediate plans.

Releasing Joseph would open up an overseas slot for a more impactful player.
