Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ended their trophy-drought in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they lifted the coveted IPL title after 18 long years. RCB outclassed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the high-octane final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 3rd June 2025.

Virat Kohli was seen in tears as his dream of lifting an IPL title finally came true. He had waited patiently for 18 years for this moment and he truly deserves this.

Batting first, RCB posted a par total of 190 runs and there were apprehensions about them winning the title from here on. This is because Punjab Kings had a power-packed batting unit and had chased down 204 runs, set up by Mumbai Indians.

Virat Kohli once again top-scored with a quality knock of 43 runs in 35 balls. His knock was packed with 3 fours. The likes of Mayank Agarwal, Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma contributed handsomely and helped RCB post a competitive total.

With the white-cherry, Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson bagged 3 wickets each and breathed fire with the ball. Singh, who wasn’t having a good run in the past couple of matches, sprung back into form.

PBKS had started off well in the 2nd innings

The dynamic uncapped duo of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya had punched above their weight and had gotten Punjab off to an optimistic start. But fate had other plans as Krunal Pandya stopped the tracks in the middle-overs.

Pandya bagged 2 wickets and was extremely economical. He deservedly bagged the player of the match award in this game for conceding just 17 runs in 4 overs. This was the 2nd time that he bagged the player of the match award in an IPL final.

Overall, this has been an emotional moment for Virat Kohli as his dream finally came true regarding IPL.
