Indian talented batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has pulled out of the County Championships and the Domestic One-Day Cup for personal reasons. He was slated to ply his trade for Yorkshire but now he will be missing the couple of tournaments.

This is a big jolt for Yorkshire as he was supposed to play the first game on 22nd July against Surrey. He was expected to bring his versatility and his experience into the County side and he could also have poked a couple of selectors with his performances.

Yorkshire said in a press release on Saturday that Gaikwad would not be joining the squad and that the team would not discuss the personal reasons behind his decision.

Unfortunately, Gaikwad’s not coming now for personal reasons. We’re not going to have him for Scarborough or for the rest of the season. So that’s disappointing. I can’t tell you anything about the reasons why, but we hope that everything’s ok. We’ve literally just found out. We’re working behind the scenes on what we can do. But it’s only two or three days away, so I’m not sure what we can do at the moment. We’re working to try and get a possible replacement, but time pressure is the issue, the Head Coach of Yorkshire, Anthony McGrath said.

Yorkshire failed to qualify for the quarter finals of the Vitality T20 Blast 2025

Yorkshire had a forgettable outing at the Vitality T20 Blast 2025. They finished at the 8th position in the North Group’s points table and managed to register only 5 wins in 14 games in the tournament.

They defeated Leicestershire by a narrow margin of 2 wickets in their previous game on 18th July 2025. Abdullah Shafique and Mat Revis top-scored with 64 and 52 runs respectively in this game at Grace Road.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was last seen at the Indian Premier League (IPL), plying his trade for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
