In what was a stellar all-round performance from the Australian cricket team, they registered an emphatic 3-wicket victory against West Indies at Sabina Park on 21st July 2025. Led by Mitchell Marsh, Australia embodied resilience and won the game against the fiery hosts.

West Indies were asked to bat first and they had gotten off to a powerful start in the first 3 overs before Cooper Connolly outfoxed Brandon King.

Shai Hope and Roston Chase played exceptionally well and scored 55 and 60 runs respectively in this innings. Both the players played supreme knocks and both the batters took the score to 123 in 12.2 overs before Ben Dwarshuis dismissed the dangerous Chase.

The Australian bowlers bowled exceedingly well at the death and conceded only 7 runs in the last 16 deliveries of the innings. They also bagged 4 wickets and sent shivers down the spines of the West Indian batters.

Australia chased down the total in a tricky run-chase

At a point Australia were 78/4 and it felt like West Indies were on top in the match. But the likes of Cameron Green and Mitchell Owen scored runs at a quick pace and smashed several boundaries.

While Green mustered a knock of 51 runs in 26 balls, Owen, who was making his T20I debut, scored 50 runs in 27 balls. Mitchell Owen became the 3rd Australian to bag the player of the match award and scoring a fifty on T20I debut. The other Australians who have achieved this feat are Ricky Ponting and David Warner.

Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder bagged 2 wickets each for Australia in this run-chase. Eventually, Australia bagged the honours of this game by 3 wickets and are 1-0 up and ahead in this ongoing series.
