With England leading the Test series 2-1, England are in a state of ascendancy and would be looking to cash in on this opportunity. Former English pacer Stuart Broad feels that Jofra Archer should be rested for the 5th Test match for workload management.
We know that Jofra Archer is extremely injury prone and has been out of action for a significant period of time. He made his comeback through this Test series and has been in red-hot blistering form.
He made a comeback in the 3rd Test match and bagged 5 wickets in the Test, which helped England win. Archer was breathing fire with the ball and swung the ball, both ways.
Broad also highlighted that Gus Atkinson can have a crack in the 5th Test match and he can fill up the shoes of Jofra Archer.
“We can’t not have Archer for four years, bring him back and then bowl him into the ground and not see him for another four years. I think Gus Atkinson has to play. I know he has not had any workload, but we need to see him. He hasn’t been really challenged against top-level opposition in Test cricket yet,” said Stuart Broad in a conversation with Sky Sports.
England and India shared the spoils in the 4th Test
Courtesy of a dogged effort from KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and the middle-order of India, the visitors ensured that the 4th Test match was a draw. Gill, Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja notched up centuries and helped India salvage a draw at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The series is now at an interesting juncture and both the sides would be looking to pack a punch in the 5th Test at The Oval. We feel that India have the momentum and can etch their names in the history books in the 5th Test.
