The highly successful Director of Cricket of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Mo Bobat, is all set to join The Hundred franchise London Spirit, from 1st October 2025. It is a significant move and we can expect some solid changes in the franchise with such a successful executive at the helm of things.
The MCC now holds a 51% majority stake in the Lord’s-based side, with the remaining 49% owned by US tech investors Tech Titans. This change follows the ECB’s decision to move all eight The Hundred franchises into private ownership. Bobat arrives right in the middle of this transformation, stepping into his role as the team begins a brand-new chapter.
“It’s an honour to join London Spirit at such an exciting time. The opportunity to shape the cricketing future of this franchise, working with MCC and our new partners, the Tech Titans, is incredibly exciting. I’m looking forward to building something special – on and off the field,” said Mo Bobat after his appointment.
Despite its sale to Tech Titans, London Spirit will be retaining its name. However, there will be a new team branding ahead of the next season of The Hundred in 2026. The club’s iconic egg and bacon colours might be retained as part of a small tribute.
“Today marks a significant moment for London Spirit. Mo Bobat brings unmatched expertise and vision to the role of Director of Cricket, and we’re thrilled to welcome him. At the same time, retaining the London Spirit name reflects our belief in the identity that’s been built – one that resonates with the capital, our fans, and our values. We now look ahead to a new era, with fresh energy and clear purpose,” said London Spirit Chairman, Julian Metherell.
Kane Williamson is the captain of London Spirit
New Zealand’s legendary former captain, Kane Williamson, is the captain of London Spirit in The Hundred 2025. He has some exceptional T20 players in his team in the form of David Warner, Jamie Overton, Jamie Smith and Richard Gleeson.
London Spirit had finished with the wooden spoon in The Hundred 2024 and would be looking for a massive change in fortunes in this season.
