Karun Nair had staged a comeback to international cricket after 9 years and didn’t have the best of outings in the grueling India tour of England 2025. Karun averaged 25.62 and managed to score only 205 runs in the entire sojourn.
Nair managed to hit only one half-century and failed to bat with responsibility, when the team needed him the most. Even though he kept getting solid starts, he failed to capitalise on them and kept squandering his opportunities.
In a conversation, Nair explained that he didn’t have to prove anything to anyone. He also highlighted the fact that he kept getting frustrated after he failed to convert the starts in the series.
“It was not like I was trying to prove anything. Sometimes you get starts in most of the games and then you find a way to get out. That was the case for me in England,” said Karun Nair as quoted by India Today.
“I was batting well throughout the series and getting into the 30s and 40s, but I just wasn’t able to push on. That was frustrating for me more than anyone else. I’ve been reflecting on why that was happening, why I kept getting out after getting set. The one lesson I’ve taken is to make sure I convert the starts I get. I’ve spoken to a lot of people about it and taken their suggestions. I’ll be working on it soon, so that the next time I get a start, I can convert it,” he added.
India had a fabulous series in England
The young colts of India, under the astute leadership of Shubman Gill, went toe-to-toe with the Englishmen and drew the series. After being 1-2 down, it was looking like the odds were stacked against Shubman Gill and co.
But the youngsters punched above their weight and put on a spectacular performance in England. It was a memorable draw for India in the first Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
