Despite being very consistent throughout the years in making the playoffs, Sunrisers Hyderabad has yet to win the title since the 2016 edition. Last year, things appeared to be different, and their squad has seen some significant changes, beginning with the players retained and released in preparation for the IPL Auction 2023.
In the IPL 2022 mega auction last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad spent INR 67.90 crore while keeping Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik for a combined INR 22 crore prior to the auction. After the auction, they had 23 players in their roster, leaving them with INR 10 lakh in the bank.
Williamson served as the franchise’s captain for IPL 2022, however, they did not have the finest of seasons, coming in eighth place in the standings. SRH decided to let him go before the IPL Auction 2023 along with many other players. They have retained a total of 12 players for IPL 2023. Know the SRH best XI team from the retained players.
IPL 2023: SRH Current Squad
Current squad: Abdul Samad, Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, Glenn Phillips, Abhishek Sharma, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kartik Tyagi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Umran Malik
IPL 2023: SRH Best Playing XI
Abdul Samad
Samad featured in just two games for SRH in IPL 2022 after being a regular member of the team in IPL 2020 and 2021. The cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir has a strong reputation going into the IPL. He might be a potential future asset for SRH and can be included in teh SRH playing XI for IPL 2023.
Aiden Markram
The 28-year-old played well for Hyderabad in the previous season, amassing 381 runs in 14 games. Markram established himself as a pillar in the middle order with a strike rate of 139.05. Throughout the season, he repeatedly supported his abilities and displayed enough confidence to greatly excite the crowd.
Although his T20 World Cup performance was just mediocre, his 50 against India in the Super 12 stage showed how developed he has become as a player.
Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi excelled in the IPL in 2022, and the SRH playing XI will undoubtedly include him in IPL 2023. Tripathi averaged 37.54 with a fantastic strike rate of 158.23 while scoring 413 runs in the IPL 2022. He had an outstanding IPL 2022 season and most recently made 156 runs in 137 balls in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match.
Abhishek Sharma
The previous season, the Hyderabad franchise’s 22-year-old Abhishek Sharma was outstanding. Sharma scored 426 runs at a strike rate of 133.13 in 14 games. The batsman from Punjab has demonstrated that he belongs on stage by being Hyderabad’s highest run-scorer in the most recent competition.
Glenn Phillips
In the whole IPL 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) did not use Glenn Phillips’ services even once. Due to problems with Covid, the middle-order batter for New Zealand was unable to play in the first few games of the competition.
With his impressive performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, he is forcing the franchise to reconsider. With 178 runs under his belt, Glenn Phillips is now the sixth-highest run scorer in the competition and the Kiwis’ top run scorer.
Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2022. Despite a strong start that included a 40-run bat in one of the first games, he ultimately was only able to total 101 runs in 7 innings at an average of 14.43. In nine games with the ball, he picked up six wickets at an average and economy of 39.83 each. However, he will still be the first choice all-rounder for SRH in IPL 2023 auction.
Fazalhaq Farooqi
Fazalhaq Farooqi, a left-arm bowler, is another promising player to come out of Afghanistan cricket. Fazalhaq Farooqi was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 50 lakh during the auction for the Indian Premier League 2022.
However, Fazalhaq Farooqi only received three opportunities to play in the starting XI during the IPL 2022, which was his first IPL season, due to the inclusion of Marco Jansen in the squad. Only two wickets were taken by the left-arm bowler at an economy rate of 9.17. He is likely to receive numerous opportunities for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 given his recent performances.
T Natarajan
One of their striking bowlers in the 2020 IPL, Natarajan, claimed 16 wickets. He performed admirably for the team once more in IPL 2022, taking 18 wickets. He did, however, play relatively little international cricket in the off-seasons of the IPL. He is best fitted in SRH playing XI with his swing variations and deadly yorkers.
Kartik Tyagi
One of the bright prospects on India’s U-19 World Cup-winning team in 2018 was Tyagi. Nevertheless, SRH paid up to 4 crores to get him in the IPL 2022 big auction, despite his scant U-19 experience.
Throughout the entire season, he only bowled 8 overs for SRH and only claimed one wicket. He was unfortunate to be left out of the attack, which was led by Natarajan, Marco Jansen, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but he will probably be included in the starting XI for SRH.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Hyderabad bowling units has previously been led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is capable of doing so again. The pacer will be the most secure option because he has spent a lot of time in the franchise and is familiar with everything. The time appears to be right for him to step up and lead the team to success because he has served SRH as vice-captain for a number of years as well.
Umran Malik
Umran Malik is currently the speed head of SRH team. Umran set a new record for the youngest player to take 20 wickets in an IPL season last year. He is surely going to be play for SRH and get the team benefitted with his speed and variations.
