IPL 2023: 3 Players With Base Price INR 1.5 Crore Might Remain UNSOLD

Date:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) announced that a total of 991 players have signed up for the 2023 player auction, which will take place on December 23 in Kochi, Kerala. 714 of the 991 players are from India, and 277 are international cricketers. 185 players with caps, 786 players without caps, and 20 players from associate countries are listed.

For the IPL 2023 auction, ten players’ names are registered in the INR 1.5 crore price range, which is the highest. Sean Abbott, Riley Meredith, Jhye Richardson, Shakib Al Hasan, Harry Brook, Will Jacks, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, and Sherfane Rutherford are on the list.

Know the 3 players under the 1.5 crore bracket who might remain unsold during the IPL 2023 auction.

Sean Abbott

Sean Abbott, an Australian pacer, has been playing for a number of years. He hasn’t been able to make a name for himself in the national squads, though.

He has only participated in three IPL games thus far, two of which were in 2015 and one in 2022. Abbott just has one wicket to show for his efforts, with an economy rate of 11.56 and an average of 104.

The 30-year-old does have a strong T20 cricket resume. He has 142 wickets at an average of 21.96 and an economy rate of 8.61 in 116 games. It is unlikely that IPL franchises will attempt to hire Abbott’s skills, though, given the limited number of open positions.

Dawid Malan

Since his debut in the T20I squad for England in 2017, Dawid Malan has been a vital member of the team. He has played 55 games and scored 1748 runs with a strike rate of 135.71 and an average of 38.84. These numbers are extremely remarkable.

He actually has a lot of T20 cricket experience. He has played 290 games throughout the course of his whole career in the format, scoring 7895 runs at a strike rate of slightly under 130. Malan has not attracted many IPL clubs, however, in part because his batting lacks that flair.

When he was a member of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) team in the IPL 2021, the 35-year-old withdrew from the UAE leg and was replaced by Aiden Markram.

Jason Roy

Jason Roy, the first player for England, has been in a downturn for some time. After a poor run with the bat in the T20 World Cup 2022 format, he was cut from the team.

In white-ball cricket, Roy was a dominant batter who has only recently appeared to be a ghost of his former self.

Franchises may be wary of selecting the England dasher at the IPL 2023 mini-auction for one extra reason. The right-handed batsman withdrew from the previous two T20 league seasons.
