Abrar Ahmed transcended onto the international stage quite smoothly as he made a historic debut in the 2nd Test match between England and Pakistan. He broke the entire back of the top order of England by dismissing 5 of their batters.
The young mystery spinner bagged a 5-for on his debut and broke several records. England was struggling at 167/5 in the first session after Abrar Ahmed conjured magic with the red ball. His dream debut powered Pakistan to a commanding position in the 2nd Test match.
Abrar Ahmed’s scalps included Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Harry Brook. At the end of the first innings of England, Ahmed bagged 7 wickets and registered a historic feat.
Abrar Ahmed also took the wicket of England skipper
His other two wickets were the prized wickets of skipper Ben Stokes and Will Jacks. He spun a web at the Multan pitch and bamboozled all the England batters. The English batters had a tough time reading his deliveries and faltered big time against this 24-year-old leg-spinner.
England was bowled out for 281 in 51.4 overs. Zahid Mahmood was the other bowler who shone for Pakistan. He took 3 wickets and helped Abrar Ahmed from the other end. Abrar Ahmed had taken a wicket in his very first over. He had dismissed Zak Crawley with a googly.
After losing the 1st Test by 74 runs, Pakistan has staged a strong comeback. Babar Azam made 3 changes to his side and one of them has already reposed faith in the Pakistan skipper.
Pakistan would be hoping to put up a better batting display as the England bowlers would be looking to rip through their batting line-ups. The likes of Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq would be key to the Pakistani batting as they are in good form and notched up centuries in the previous Test at Rawalpindi.
