Five people have been detained by the Bihar Police for making fraudulent phone calls to strangers using the name and photograph of former cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In Patna, the five defendants were detained. They were conducting business out of a two-bedroom rental apartment in the Patna neighborhood of Khemni Chak.
The accused used to phone people at random and offer them credit cards, bank loans, insurance, GST bills, and KYC updates, among other things. Bharat Kumar, Aakash Sinha, Gautam Kumar, Rajiv Ranjan, and Aakash Kumar were named as the defendants.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon of Patna claimed that the accused were in charge of a fake business called Dhani Finance Ltd. and had also created a website for the business. According to the chief cop, arrested accused used name and photograph of ex-cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni to attract people and then dupe them.
