Ben Stokes, an all-around player for England, was purchased by Chennai Super Kings during the Indian Premier League 2023 mini-auctions for a staggering sum of Rs 16.25 crore.
Stokes attracted interest from SunRisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants, who quickly raised the price to over Rs 10 crore. Late bidder Chennai Super Kings purchased the Stokes for Rs. 16.25 crore, which is tied for the third-highest price ever paid at an IPL auction.
Ben Stokes has developed into one of the top all-rounders in international cricket, he is a regular performer. The 31-year-old is a seasoned captain and major match performer, having led England to ODI and T20 World Cup victories in 2019 and 2022, respectively.
Between 2011 and 2022, he participated in 43 T20 Internationals for England, amassing 585 runs and claiming 26 wickets. Stokes has participated in 43 games in the IPL, taking 28 wickets and scoring 920 runs.
