CS:GO New Ranking And Invite System Details

Date:

In order to more accurately determine which teams should be invited to the further qualifying stages of future events, Valve, the developers of CS:GO, has officially implemented a new Regional Standings ranking system for keeping track of performance over several tournaments. This will undoubtedly bring more of an order and structure to the entire system.

By utilizing a formula that takes into account a team’s prize pool winnings, the caliber of their opponents, and their head-to-head performances versus other teams, Valve has announced the rankings for America, Europe, and Asia. The difference between the team’s predicted win rate and actual win rate will have a big impact on how strong opponents are rated.

This will be put into practice at the outset to decide the teams that will qualify for the closed qualifiers for Regional Major Ranking events. It will also be used for the CS:GO tournaments to decide which teams will advance to the Majors and the stage they will begin with. The BLAST Paris Major in May 2023 will be where we witness this for the first time.

Current Regional Standings

Lynn Vision from China is the top-ranked team in Asia, Heroic are in first place in Europe, while Liquid are in first place in the Americas as per the official December 21 Regional Standings. Outsiders, the most recent Major champion, is third in Europe after Heroic and G2. Over 300 distinct teams make up the whole Regional Standings.

The best teams from each region’s Regional Rankings will get invitations to the closed qualifiers. The standings will be updated on a regular basis until the commencement of the open qualifiers. All of the teams who aren’t invited to the closed qualifiers will compete in the open qualifiers. RMR tournaments for past Majors consisted of teams that advanced to the previous Major in addition to open qualifying teams.
