The felicitating ceremony will get underway at 6:30 IST.

The U19 World Cup champions from India will fly into Mumbai on Tuesday from South Africa and then proceed to Ahmedabad for the award ceremony on Wednesday. On the eve of the third and final Twenty20 International between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad, the award ceremony will take place.

“It is with great delight I share that Bharat Ratna Shri @sachin_rt and @BCCI Office Bearers will felicitate the victorious India U19 team on Feb 1st in Narendra Modi Stadium at 6:30 PM IST.

The young cricketers have made India proud and we will honor their achievements,” Jay Shah wrote on Twitter.

India U-19 Women’s team made the entire country proud

On Sunday, Shafali Verma led a group of gifted youngsters to the first U-19 T20 World Cup title as India won their first-ever ICC victory in women’s cricket with a seven-wicket destruction of England.

With seven wickets in hand and six overs remaining, India easily defeated England in the world cup final. This victory was made possible by an outstanding new-ball performance and a composed run chase.

“The India U-19 Women’s team has done the entire country proud with their stupendous success at the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The Shafali Verma-led unit showed tremendous skill and grit to overcome the challenges and blazed their way to glory.

The BCCI has always valued age-group cricket and the title triumph is another sign that women’s cricket in India is thriving.

This success also highlights the depth of cricketing talent in the country and augurs well as we inch closer to the inaugural edition of the much-awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) which will further fuel interest in women’s cricket,” Jay Shah said.

INR 5 crore prize money for the entire team

The winning India U-19 squad and support staff will receive a cash reward of INR 5 crore from the BCCI. Shweta Sehrawat, the opener for India, finished with 297 runs and three half-centuries to lead the tournament in scoring.

Parshavi Chopra, who took 11 wickets across six games, was India’s top wicket-taker at the time.

Jay Shah tweeted, “Women’s Cricket in India is on the upswing and the World Cup triumph has taken the stature of women’s cricket several notches higher.

I am delighted to announce INR 5 crore for the entire team and support staff as prize money. This is surely a path-breaking year.”

The team played with a fearless approach

Current BCCI president, Roger Binny, lauded the U19 girl by saying, “I take this opportunity to congratulate the India U-19 Women’s team for their title glory at the ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup.

The team played with a fearless approach and created history by winning the coveted trophy. This was the inaugural edition of the tournament and our team’s achievement has set a benchmark to inspire the upcoming cricketers in the country.”
