The Women’s Premier League (WPL) Player Auction will take place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on February 13, 2023, and 409 cricketers will be auctioned off in total.
Mumbai will host the WPL’s debut season from March 4 to March 26. The main competition will be held at the Brabourne Stadium and D.Y. Patil Stadium, where a total of 22 games will be contested.
The Jio Convention Center in Mumbai will host the auction, according to the BCCI. At 2:30 PM IST, the bidding war will begin as the five teams compete to put their teams in the greatest position to win the title in the first-ever competition.
A total of 1525 players signed up for the inaugural auction, however, only 409 have been chosen to participate. Of these, 246 are Indians and 163 are foreign players, eight of whom are from associate nations.
In contrast to the Men’s Indian Premier League (IPL), teams in the WPL can feature five foreign players in their starting XI, but one of them must be from an associate nation.
90 players out of the 409 will be auctioned. Each team will be allowed to buy a maximum of 12 Indians and six international players out of the 60 Indians and 30 overseas players that the five teams must collectively purchase.
In the auction, 199 uncapped players and 202 capped players are available for grabs.
