The third Test between Australia and India has been shifted from Dharamshala. Any official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.
The pitch and the entire outfield had been relaid by the HPCA. According to an official who was quoted in a report of Indian Express on Friday, even though the pitch has not been tested, it is not a huge concern. It is concerning that the “small patch near the square” has not yet been finished.
The HPCA stadium, one of the most beautiful cricket stadiums in the world, only hosted one Test in 2017 between Australia and India. The HPCA had intended to replicate the entire outfield while taking the local weather into care, despite the fact that it routinely stages T20s and ODIs. Relay work started following the monsoon.
Still some work that needs to be done
It is customary to test the pitch and outfield during a game after they have been resurfaced. The official stated that hasn’t happened thus far. Himachal played all of their home games during the Ranji Trophy season at Nadaun as construction took place at Dharamshala.
“There is still some work that needs to be done near the side area of the pitch. We are hopeful that things will be ready before the game. The HPCA will take a call after the BCCI inspection. We have relaid the whole surface with proper drainage and have added sprinklers to the ground. Some work is still pending and as three weeks are left we feel the work will be completed,” a source in HPCA said.
