India advanced to the Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 semifinals, becoming the third side after Australia and England to do so. On Monday, February 20, at St. George’s Park, the Ladies in Blue, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated Laura Delany’s Ireland by five runs (DLS Method).
Currently, India holds the second-place spot in Group B’s points standings with six points and a net run rate of +0.253. The chances of India facing Australia in the semi-finals are rather strong, as Pakistan must win their next game by a big margin for England to drop to second place in the table.
Sophie Devine’s New Zealand defeated Chamari Athapaththu’s Sri Lanka by 102 runs. New Zealand’s chances of advancing to the playoffs were maintained with the victory. New Zealand will advance to the semifinals assuming Bangladesh defeats South Africa in their last Group A match. In the interim, Sri Lanka won’t be able to advance to the following round.
