Road Safety World Series: South Africa Legends Not Paid Fees In 2nd Season, File Formal Notice

Date:

Trouble has been sensed in the Road Safety World Series (RSWS) as the South African Legends weren’t paid their dues in the 2nd season. It’s been around 5 months since the 2nd season of the Road Safety World Series ended and the organizers haven’t still paid the South African Legends.

Roughly Rs. 1.5 crores have not been paid by the organizers to the South African Legends and some of the formal players have sent a formal notice. These players include Jhonty Rhodes, Johan Botha, Vernon Philander, Jacques Rudolph, and Alviro Petersen.

Majestic Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. And PMG Organisations have been sent the formal notice from the South African Legends.

“This statement serves as formal notice that the Majestic Legends Sports Pvt Ltd and PMG organizations failed to fulfill their financial obligations outlined in the contracts signed by the South African Legends players for Season 2 of the Road Safety World Series,” read the statement.

The Road Safety World Series is endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Information Technology and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the Sports of the Government of India.

Since so many important stakeholders were involved, naturally the series was a high-voltage series that involved several former players of the sport.

“Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the collective amount of roughly $180,000 US Dollars remains outstanding. Pursuant to the terms of the agreement and subsequent Letter of Intent, we are left with no choice but to initiate a public statement due to non-payment on your behalf. We, the players, demand immediate payment in full to avoid further legal proceedings,” further read the statement.

An official of the Road Safety World Series told The Indian Express that a lot of matches were washed out because of rain and therefore the sponsors didn’t pay the organizers any money for those matches.

This was one of the main reasons for the delay in the payment.

India Legends were the champions of the 2nd edition of the Road Safety World Series after they defeated Sri Lanka Legends by 33 runs in the finals. Notably, India had beaten Australia Legends by 5 wickets in the semi-finals.
