The WPL 2023 campaign for Royal Challengers Bangalore has not been going well; in the 11th game of the Women’s Premier League 2023, they were defeated by Delhi Capitals Women by 6 wickets, losing their fifth straight match in the competition.
Following Monday’s match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the WPL points standings were changed. The RCB vs DC match went down to the final over, breaking the trend of one-sided games. In the end, Delhi Capitals were victorious.
Smriti Mandhana, the skipper of the RCB, once again struggled when she batted first and could only contribute 8 runs. After 21 runs, her teammate Sophie Devine also collapsed. When Royal Challengers Bangalore required quick runs at 63/3 after 12.4 overs, Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry formed a partnership of 74.
In response, Shafali Verma lost her wickets in the very first over. New batswoman Alice Capsey, though, put the RCB bowlers under pressure with a counterattacking performance. She scored 38 runs out of only 24 balls.
Following their win, DC is nearly guaranteed their place in the elimination round. With three games remaining, is likely out of the running for the eliminator as this was their fifth straight loss. Meg Lanning currently holds the top spot in the WPL Orange Cap standings and doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Ellyse Perry has been reliable with the bat and has moved into second place with 195 runs under her belt despite a difficult season for her franchise.
Third place is now occupied by Alyssa Healy, who has moved down one slot. Shafali Verma, Meg Lanning’s batting partner, is in fourth place with 179 runs, and all-rounder Hayley Matthews is still in the top five, taking up fifth place.

With 12 wickets, Saika Ishaque is still in first place in the WPL Purple Cap standings. Having taken three wickets against Bangalore, Shikha Pandey is currently in second place, followed by Sophie Ecclestone, who is now in third.
