WPL 2023: Can RCB Still Qualify For Playoffs, Know Qualification Scenarios

Date:

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are not having a good season in the current Women’s Premier League as they suffered their fifth straight loss to the Delhi Capitals on March 13, 2023.

RCB currently has no points next to its name and is at the bottom of the WPL 2023 points table.

With only three matches remaining and no wins to their name, the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s qualification situation is currently exceedingly challenging.

Although RCB may appear to be out of the tournament, mathematically they are still in the WPL qualification race.

Check complete details on how RCB can still qualify for WPL 2023 playoffs.

WPL 2023 Playoffs – Current Scenario

The top three teams will compete in two matches—the Eliminator and the Final—during the WPL 2023 playoffs to determine the inaugural season’s champion.

While the second- and third-placed teams compete in the eliminator to secure their spots in the summit match, the table topper receives a direct entry to the final.

Mumbai Indians, who have not lost in four games, are now in the first place, followed by Delhi Capitals, who have won four and lost one, and UP Warriorz, who have won two and lost two.

The Gujarat Giants have also had three losses and one win thus far. RCB is at the bottom with 5 losses in this season so far.

MI and DC are probably going to finish in the playoff slots due to their higher NRRs. Along with Gujarat Giants, it appears that UP Warriorz will also capture the third slot.

Although they face a challenge, RCBs are statistically still alive.

WPL 2023: RCB playoffs qualification scenario

In the Women’s Premier League 2023, the Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their first five games.

They now need to win all three of their remaining games and would also for the outcomes of the other teams to go in their favour.

After a bad start, it looks impossible for RCB to finish in the top three, but they are still in the race statistically.

The top two spots are now out of their reach, but if they can win their final three games and the other outcomes go their way, they can still sneak into third place.

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals must defeat UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants, while the Giants must defeat UPW in order for RCB to win.

Based on the season’s run, there is, however, an extremely small possibility that all of this will occur.

RCB can still qualify for the WPL eliminator if:

  • RCB win all the remaining 3 games.
  • MI and DC win their matches against Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz.
  • Gujarat Giants beat UP Warriorz.

Royal Challengers Bangalore run so far in the WPL 2023:

Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, and other well-known players play for the Smriti Mandhana-led team, however, they have yet to win a game in the competition.

After suffering a humbling loss by 60 runs against the Delhi Capitals to open their season, the Royal Challengers Bangalore fell to the Mumbai Indians by a score of 9 wickets.

The RCB team’s losing streak continued when they were defeated by the UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants, respectively, by scores of 11 runs and 10 wickets. In the fifth game, DC once again defeated RCB.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have a sizable fan base, but despite having several famous players in the competition, they haven’t lived up to their moniker.
