IPL 2023: 3 Wicket-Keepers Who Could Have A Stellar Season

Date:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to enter into its 16th edition.

The traditional home and away format of the league will be back and we are set to see some exciting action being unfolded.

IPL 2023 will kick-start from 31st March 2023 and Gujarat Titans (GT) will be crossing swords with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first game.

The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have roared back into form and it will be exciting to see them play their natural game in the cash-rich IPL.

Now one of the most important members in an IPL team is the wicket-keepers.

They have a 180-degree view of the entire ground and often make amendments to the field and cheer the bowlers from behind.

Over the years, we have seen some sensational wicket-keepers in the IPL.

In this article, we take a look at 3 wicket-keeper who could have a stellar IPL 2023 season:

1. MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)

The first name that inadvertently comes up in this list is the legendary captain and wicket-keeper of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni.

One of the greatest Indian cricketers to have graced this game, MS Dhoni might be playing his last IPL season this year.

This would give him extra impetus to play well in the tournament.

Under Dhoni’s adroit leadership, CSK have won 4 IPL titles and would be looking to clinch their 5th title in this season.

2. Dinesh Karthik (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

After being out of favour of the Indian cricket team post the ICC ODI World Cup 2019, Dinesh Karthik staged a strong comeback in the Indian T20I set-up after a stellar IPL 2022 season.

Playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise, Karthik scored 330 runs in IPL 2022 and regularly gave a solid finish to RCB’s innings.

He was brought into the T20I setup of India post that and also played for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

The 37-year-old wicket-keeper is an epitome of resilience and determination and would be hoping to have a stellar IPL 2023 season.

3. Wriddhiman Saha (Gujarat Titans)

Even though we always associate Wriddhiman Saha as a Test keeper, he is an equally good keeper and batter in the T20 format.

The aggressive and buccaneering T20 batter had a sensational IPL 2022 and was an automatic selection in the playing XI of Gujarat Titans.

Gujarat won IPL 2022 and Saha played a huge role in it.

He scored 317 runs in 11 matches in 2022 and would be fresh before IPL 2023.

He would be pumped and charged to have a good IPL 2023 season.
