WTC 2023 Final: Which Team Will Win Title If IND vs AUS Match Ends In A Draw? All You Need To Know

Date:

The much-anticipated World Test Championship final (WTC) is all set to be held, featuring a clash between cricket powerhouses India and Australia.

Taking place at the iconic Oval in London from June 7-11, this high-stakes encounter has already ignited excitement among fans worldwide. Both teams are gearing up intensively, with Rohit Sharma’s men and Pat Cummins’ side leaving no stone unturned in their preparations.

The coveted ICC trophy awaits, and both India and Australia have their sights set on claiming it, having secured the top two positions in the WTC 2021-23 points table. While Australia had a lacklustre performance in the previous cycle, they made a strong comeback this time, finishing at the top, while Team India secured the second spot.

For the Indian team, this will mark their second consecutive appearance in the WTC final, and they are determined to rectify their previous defeat to New Zealand. The memory of that loss fuels their motivation to set the record straight and emerge, winner, this time.

The WTC final of 2023 is expected to be a fiercely contested battle, with both India and Australia boasting a lineup of star players who are eager to give their all and secure the prestigious trophy for their respective teams.

However, the nature of Test cricket often presents the possibility of a draw, given the unpredictable nature of the game. In such an event, it’s important to know about the details of the WTC 2023 final result and what it means if the match does indeed end in a draw.

WTC 2023 Final: Which team will win if the match ends in a draw?

While Australia may have secured the top position on the WTC 2021-23 points table, it doesn’t guarantee an easy path to the trophy. In the event of a draw, the trophy will be shared by both teams, emphasizing the need for a hard-fought battle between India and Australia.

If weather conditions, like those experienced in the previous edition’s final, come into play, a reserve day has been scheduled. However, the additional playing time will only be utilized if there is a significant loss of playing time during the first five days.

In a regular Test match, the average playing time extends to about 30 hours, with six hours of play each day or 90 overs per day. The WTC final 2023 will only proceed to the reserve day if the full quota of 90 overs cannot be completed on any given day.
