Hardik Pandya Ruled Out Of World Cup 2023; Prasidh Krishna To Step In

Date:

In a significant blow to India’s World Cup 2023 campaign, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out from the tournament due to a left ankle injury sustained during a match against Bangladesh in Pune.

After his injury, Pandya had been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, with hopes of making a comeback. However, his recovery has been delayed, leading to the decision to rule him out of the competition.

To address this setback, the event’s technical committee has given the green light for seamer Prasidh Krishna to take Pandya’s place in the Indian squad.

The 26-year-old Krishna has shown promise with his fast bowling skills, and his inclusion aims to bolster India’s bowling department.

Pandya’s absence is a significant loss for the Indian team, as he played a key role as an all-rounder, contributing both with the bat and as a reliable bowling option. His dynamic presence on the field will be missed as well.

In response to Pandya’s injury, the Indian team has adjusted its playing eleven, adopting a six-batter and five-bowler strategy. Md Shami is creating havoc by dismantling opponents with his swing after he gets the chance to play.

While this strategy has proven effective so far, there is a potential challenge if any of the bowlers suffer injuries or struggle, as there are no part-time bowlers to turn to. The team will now rely on Prasidh Krishna to help fill the void left by Pandya’s departure.
