The apex body of Indian Cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Surya Kumar Yadav has been named as the captain while Shubman Gill has been named as his deputy.

There were a lot of speculations on whether Gill should be included in this side, but the selectors have put those speculations to rest. It is believed that Gill will be backed as the next all-format skipper of India.

He is already leading the Test side and leads his Indian Premier League (IPL) side, Gujarat Titans (GT). Shubman Gill can be an ideal candidate to take up the captaincy mantle of Team India post the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

India have made some stringent calls as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer have not been included in the T20I side. Iyer had a stellar IPL 2025 season where he mustered 604 runs and also captained Punjab Kings (PBKS) to their first-ever IPL playoff, since 2014. Notably, PBKS had reached the finals and had lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Jasprit Bumrah has been named in the Asia Cup 2025 squad of India

Jasprit Bumrah was named in the squad announced by Chief Selector, Ajit Agarkar, and he will be playing a key role in it. The likes of Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Hardik Pandya are the other pacers in the squad.

Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy are the spinners in the side and they need to play a crucial role in the slow and sluggish conditions of UAE.
