Team India was rocked with another blow as star all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been ruled out of the remainder of the ENG vs IND series due to a left knee injury. Reddy was an integral part of the squad and was a part of the fightback of India in the 3rd Test match versus Birmingham.
The apex body of Indian Cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) confirmed in its press release that Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the series. Reddy will now fly back home and will undergo treatment.
“All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home and the team wishes him a speedy recovery,” read the statement from BCCI.
In another big blow, Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the 4th Test match at Old Trafford due to an impact injury on his bowling thumb. Anshul Kamboj has been added as a replacement and stands a chance to make his debut.
On the other hand, Akash Deep, who had bagged 10 wickets in the 2nd Test at Birmingham, can potentially miss the 4th Test.
He suffered a groin injury in the 3rd Test and can miss out on the game if he doesn’t recover on time. Team India is going through a crisis and Jasprit Bumrah might have to feature in the remaining 2 Tests.
The ENG vs IND series is presently 2-1 in favour of the hosts
After the 1st Test was pocketed by England, India fought resiliently and staged a comeback in the 2nd Test. The 3rd Test at Lord’s was a humdinger and it saw India narrowly lose to England in one of the finest Test matches in this decade.
India need a strong comeback and would be banking on skipper Shubman Gill, to lead the charge.
