One of the most popular footballing stalwarts in the world, Brazilian maverick Pele will be spending his Christmas at the hospital. Pele was diagnosed with colon cancer in September 2021 and has been having medical ailments since then.
In the first week of December, Pele had stopped responding to chemotherapy and was moved to the end-of-life palliative care. Now as per the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, his condition has worsened and he will be spending his Christmas at the hospital.
“We decided with doctors that, for many reasons, it will be best for us to stay here, with all the care that this new family at Einstein gives us,” wrote Pele’s daughter Kely Nascimento on Instagram.
“We will even make some caipirinhas (no kidding). We love you and we will give up an update next week,” she added.
Pele is a 3-time World Cup winner of Brazil and is one of the best players to have ever graced the sport.
