India will be making their debut at the Asian Games 2022 and would be strong favourites to lift the title. The heavyweights from the sub-continent, India have some formidable players in their ranks and would be hoping to clinch off the gold medal without much resistance.

As India is the top-seeded team in the whole pool, they have directly qualified for the quarter-finals. But, they will be facing a challenge as their skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been suspended for 2 games following her unruly behaviour in the series versus Bangladesh.

Smriti Mandhana will be the captain of India for the first 2 games and would be hoping that she makes the job easy for the regular skipper, once she returns. As cricket paves a way back into the Asian Games after a hiatus of 9 years, India would be hoping to etch their names in gold in the record books.
