The Indian cricket team came extremely close in the 3rd Test match versus England at Lord’s Cricket Stadium and it was a thriller of a game. Ravindra Jadeja held fort from one end and almost won it for the visitors.
But fate had some other plans as Mohammed Siraj eventually played on after defending like a pro. India narrowly missed a win and England are now 2-1 up and ahead in the series.
But several cricket pundits and journalists have heaped praise on India for embodying the never-say-die attitude.
Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir applauded Ravindra Jadeja for his gritty knock in the face of adversity.
“That was an incredible fight. The fight from Jaddu was absolutely brilliant,” said Gautam Gambhir in a video uploaded by the media team of the apex body of Indian cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI).
India’s Assistant Coach Ryan Ten Doeschate also lavished praise on the all-rounder and highlighted his “consistency and calmness”.
“His batting has reached another level. In the last two Tests the consistency and the calmness he brought to the dressing room. I’ve watched him for so many years and how he’s developed his game now, his defence is rock solid, looks like a proper batter,” said the former Dutch all-rounder and now Assistant Coach of India.
India need to win the Manchester Test to keep England series win dream alive
Shubman Gill and co. face a tough job at Old Trafford from 23rd July 2025. India desperately need to win the remaining 2 Test matches in order to win the series, 3-2. The Manchester Test becomes extremely important as any further loss in the series would mean that England walk away the honours of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
India had notably, won the 2nd Test at Birmingham. Shubman Gill has been the top performer of this series and has amassed 607 runs at a mind-boggling average of 101.16.
