England will be hosting Sri Lanka for a 3-match Test series starting from 21st August 2024. It becomes an integral part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle as both the teams would be looking to rack up points through this series.
Sri Lanka would be brimming with a lot of confidence and momentum as they recently defeated India in a 3-match ODI series, 2-0. Despite fielding the top players, India failed to face the spinners of Sri Lanka and failed to chase down targets set by the hosts.
England have suffered a major blow as Ben Stokes has been ruled out of this series after copping a hamstring blow during The Hundred Men’s 2024.
Sri Lanka have appointed former English batter Ian Bell as their Batting Coach ahead of this series. The visitors also have former Sri Lankan batter Sanath Jayasuriya as their interim Head Coach.
Ollie Pope, who has played 46 Tests for England and has amassed 2690 runs at an average of 35.4, will be captaining the side.
Sri Lanka had last toured England in 2016 and had suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of the hosts. They would be looking to better their performance in this tour.
