    IND vs ENG Squad Changes

The ongoing Test series between India and England has garnered lots of talks and discussion worldwide.

The first test at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium saw England emerge victorious, securing a 28-run win and taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

While the defeat raised concerns, it also prompted discussions about potential changes in Team India’s playing XI for the second test.

Here, we analyse three players who might have to sit on the bench during the IND vs ENG 2nd test due to their poor performance.

    1. Shreyas Iyer:

Shreyas Iyer has faced challenges in making a significant impact in Test cricket. Despite scoring 35 runs in the first innings of the opening Test against England, his failure to capitalize on the opportunity in the crucial second innings (13 runs) raises concerns.

Iyer’s struggles extend to the two-match Test series against South Africa, where he managed only 41 runs.

Rajat Patidar, a domestic stalwart in red-hot form, stands as a potential replacement for Shreyas Iyer.

Known for his consistency and ability to build innings, Patidar could offer the middle order the stability it needs, injecting a fresh dynamic into Team India’s batting lineup.

    2. Shubman Gill:

Shubman Gill, a promising talent, has faced challenges since his shift to the number 3 position. Despite an impressive start to his Test career, Gill has struggled to adapt to his new role.

In his last 11 Test innings, he has posted scores that fail to match his potential, creating doubts about his ability to perform at the crucial number 3 spot.

A substantial innings might be crucial for Gill to retain his spot, as the selectors weigh replacement to fortify the top order.

    3. Srikar Bharat:

Srikar Bharat, donning the wicketkeeper-batsman role, managed only 69 runs in the first Test against England.

With KL Rahul providing another wicketkeeping option, Bharat’s contributions with the bat might not be sufficient to secure his spot, especially with other promising alternatives available.

Dhruv Jurel, known for his proficient wicketkeeping skills and the ability to contribute in the middle order, or Rajat Patidar, if not selected as a replacement for Shreyas Iyer, could be considered as a viable alternative for Srikar Bharat.

The decision will hinge on the team management’s evaluation of the necessary balance in the playing XI.
