IND vs ENG Weather Report Guyana Live: T20 World Cup Semifinal Washout Threat?

Date:

The highly anticipated semifinal clash between India and defending champions England in the T20 World Cup 2024 is under serious threat of being washed out due to heavy rain forecast throughout the day in Guyana.

According to the latest weather updates from Accuweather, there is an 88% chance of rain in Guyana on Thursday, making it highly likely that the IND vs ENG semifinal match will be called off without a ball being bowled. Rain is expected at the venue all day, even early morning, but the showers are likely to intensify after 9:00 AM local time (6:30 PM IST).

The likelihood of rainfall will start to reduce after 11:00 AM local time (8:30 PM IST), but the chances of rain remain high throughout the day. Accuweather predicts a 66% chance of rainfall at 10 AM local time (7:30 PM IST), when the toss is scheduled, and the chances jump to 75% by 11 AM local time (8:30 PM IST).

The Weather Channel also forecasts rain from 9 AM local time (6:30 PM IST) till 4 PM local time (1:30 AM IST). The hourly weather report suggests that the rain could delay the toss, and everything largely depends on whether there will be a passing shower in the afternoon or constant rain.

Unlike the first semifinal between South Africa and Afghanistan, which saw no interruption by rain, the second match in Guyana is expected to witness plenty of showers, especially after the scheduled start of the game. The International Cricket Council (ICC) hasn’t kept a single reserve day in place for any of the two semifinals.

However, the India vs England match will get approximately 4 hours extra to complete the match, with a 10-over-per-side contest being a must if a result is to be obtained. In case of a washout, India will advance to the final to face South Africa on June 29 due to their higher ranking in the Super 8 round.

The weather predictions have cast a cloud of uncertainty over the highly anticipated semifinal, leaving cricket enthusiasts eagerly awaiting updates on whether the match will take place at all.

IND vs ENG T20 World Cup Semifinal Live Updates, Guyana Weather Today: Has Rain Stopped in Guyana?

Recent media reports say that the weather in Guyana is getting better. The sun is out, and the sky is clear at the moment.

Even though rain is still expected later today, it should be less intense than we first thought. If the match is canceled due to rain, India will move to the final because of their better performance in the tournament so far.
