Beginning on January 3, 2023, the Indian Cricket Team will face off against Sri Lanka in a three-match T20 International series. Due to the thumb injury, he got during the Bangladesh ODI Series, captain Rohit Sharma is anticipated to miss time.
In a dismal Test Series against Bangladesh, former captain Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant are likely to be rested. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are expected to be the two options for wicketkeeping, according to a recent report in InsideSport. BCCI is also likely to keep Border Gavaskar Trophy while deciding the squad for Sri Lanka T20I Series.
The news that Ravindra Jadeja will likely make his return to the international spotlight with Sri Lanka’s tour of India has given the hosts a significant advantage going into the T20I series.
Jadeja was out of the squad due to an injury
Since the Asia Cup 2022, when he suffered an injury that required surgery, the all-around star ace has been sidelined, missing the T20 World Cup 2022. The 34-year-old recently uploaded a photo of himself showing him entering Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA).
According to a source on Cricbuzz, Jadeja has been healing from his injury in recent days and is likely to be selected in the T20I squad for Team India’s upcoming assignment.
Yash Dhull likely to get selected
As long as Rohit Sharma’s thumb ailment persists, Hardik Pandya may be given the chance to captain the Men in Blue. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will both be rested for the T20I series that starts on January 3, but it is anticipated that they would both play in the ODI leg given the ODI World Cup preparation. The U-19 World Cup champion captain of India, Yash Dhull, who has been in outstanding form in domestic cricket, could possibly make the squad.
