India has announced its squad for the upcoming white-ball tour of Zimbabwe, bringing exciting news for several young cricketers.
Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Reddy have earned their first call-ups to the national team, rewarded for their stellar performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team will be led by Shubman Gill, a promising young captain.
Riyan Parag impressed selectors with 573 runs in IPL 2024. His consistent performance has made him the first cricketer from Assam to be selected for the senior Indian team.
Representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma scored 484 runs in the IPL, showcasing his batting prowess and earning his place in the squad.
Another emerging talent who made a mark in the IPL and has now been given a chance to prove himself at the international level.
The India tour of Zimbabwe, which comprises five T20 Internationals starting from July 6, will be led by the promising Shubman Gill. This announcement has brought opportunities for some IPL stars to shine on the international stage.
India’s tour of Zimbabwe will kick off with the first T20I on July 6. The second match will be played on July 7.
After a short break, the third game will be on July 10, followed by the fourth match on July 13. The series will conclude with the fifth and final match on July 14. All matches will take place at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.
Several senior players, including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah, are currently participating in the T20 World Cup in the Americas. They have been rested for the Zimbabwe tour to prepare for the upcoming demanding season.
Players like Tushar Deshpande, Harshit Rana, Avesh Khan, and Rinku Singh, who performed well in the IPL, are also part of the squad.
Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who were on the bench during the T20 World Cup, have been included in the 15-member squad.
