KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty’s Charity Auction Raises INR 1.9 Crore for Vipla Foundation

    Indian cricketer KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty organized a successful charity auction called ‘Cricket for Charity’ to support the Vipla Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children. 

    The auction, which featured memorabilia donated by several international cricketers, raised a remarkable Rs. 1.9 crore in total.

    Star-Studded Donations

    The auction included a wide range of prized items from some of cricket’s biggest stars. Virat Kohli’s jersey fetched the highest bid at Rs. 40 lakhs, while his gloves were sold for Rs. 28 lakhs. 

    India captain Rohit Sharma’s bat was auctioned for Rs. 24 lakhs, and former India coach Rahul Dravid’s bat went for Rs. 11 lakhs. MS Dhoni’s bat was sold for Rs. 13 lakhs, and KL Rahul’s own jersey fetched Rs. 11 lakhs.

    International Cricketers Participate

    Several other Indian and international cricketers participated in the auction by donating memorabilia close to their hearts. 

    Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Quinton de Kock, and Nicholas Pooran were among those who contributed to the cause.

    Couple’s Commitment to Education

    Rahul and Athiya have been praised for their efforts to raise awareness and funds for this important cause. 

    In a statement, Athiya expressed her excitement about the auction, saying, “The auction proceeds will go towards Vipla Foundation special school for the hearing impaired and intellectually disabled, which was started by my nani and is very dear to my heart.”

    Overwhelming Response from Fans

    The auction received an overwhelming response from fans, who eagerly participated in bidding for the memorabilia. Rahul acknowledged the support from the cricket fraternity, stating, “When I reached out to the cricket fraternity, they were just as supportive in donating their precious cricket items for this great cause.”

    The success of the auction highlights the power of sports to bring people together and make a positive impact on society.
