“Ladai Meri Sirf On The Field Hai,” Gautam Gambhir Opens Up On Virat Kohli

Date:

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently shed light on his on-field spat with star batter Virat Kohli during the IPL 2023.

The incident, which happened on May 1 during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow, took a dramatic turn after the game ended.

The altercation initially involved Virat Kohli and Lucknow Super Giants’ pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, with tensions escalating quickly.

What caught the cricketing community off guard was the intervention of Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, who stepped in to support Naveen-ul-Haq.

The situation escalated into a heated exchange, creating a buzz in the cricketing world.

This clash wasn’t the first time these two cricketing stalwarts found themselves at odds. A similar incident occurred during IPL 2013 when both players engaged in a verbal spat during a match.

Known for his straightforward and blunt remarks, Gambhir has earned a reputation for his competitive spirit on the field.

However, what turned heads was Gambhir’s recent statement regarding Virat Kohli’s monumental achievement of scoring his 50th ODI hundred against New Zealand during the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final.

In a pre-match interview on Star Sports before the 3rd ODI between India and South Africa, Gambhir was asked about the bowler against whom Kohli achieved this remarkable feat.

In a surprising yet candid response, Gambhir identified Lockie Ferguson as the bowler responsible for Kohli’s milestone and stated, “Please show this clip again and again, I remember everything. My fight is only on the field.”

This statement not only showcased Gambhir’s sharp memory but also highlighted that his competitive spirit is confined to the cricket field.

In a parallel development, Gambhir has taken on the role of mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming season of IPL.

Offering insights into the team’s strategy, Gambhir expressed confidence in the newly acquired pacer Mitchell Starc, who was bought at a whopping price of Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL auction.

According to Gambhir, Starc is not just an X-factor but also someone who can lead the bowling attack effectively.

Gambhir has recently come into controversy with his fixer remark on S Sreesanth. During an LLC game between Gujarat Giants and India Captials, there was a heated argument between two senior players. S Sreesanth claimed that Gautam Gambhir had branded him a “fixer.”
