The Maharashtra Premier League is the premier T20 franchise tournament of Maharashtra. It has 6 teams namely Pune, Kolhapur, Solapur, Sambhajinagar, Ratnagiri and Nashik. Several eyeballs will be on this tournament as several star cricketers of India will be taking part in it.

Following the model of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Maharashtra Premier League recently had their auction. It took place on 6th June 2023 and more than 200 players came under the hammer.

Several icon players have been chosen and the tournament will ooze action and high-end entertainment. Vidarbha and Mumbai do not come under the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) and therefore they will not be a part of this tournament.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why the Maharashtra Premier League can be a game-changer for Indian cricket:

    1. Junior cricketers can rub shoulders with star players

Since several star players will be involved in the Maharashtra Premier League, the junior cricketers and the domestic cricketers can rub shoulders with them. The junior cricketers will be able to share the dressing room with them and can learn a lot of valuable things from them.

Some of the star icon players include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Kedar Jadhav and Rahul Tripathi. With a star-studded league, the juniors will be benefitting the most from it.

    2. Cricket in Maharashtra will get revolutionized

As an IPL-type league is being organised by the MCA, several young and budding cricketers will be getting a launching pad to the top-level of cricket. The cricketers will be getting a proper platform to showcase their skills and abilities and prove their mettle in front of the entire world.

Maharashtra will in turn provide a lot of good cricketers to the Indian cricket team as the players will be getting a platform to display their prowess. This is a great sign for the Indian cricket team in the future.

    3. Several corporate houses are involved

Since several big corporate houses are involved, a lot of money will be pumped into the league. This is a great revenue-generating model for not just the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI), but also the MCA.

From Punit Balan Group to Jets Synthesis, several top corporate biggies are involved and have invested in their teams. For instance, Pune’s Pravin Masalewala paid a staggering amount of Rs. 14.8 crores to Ruturaj Gaikwad to acquire his services.

As a lot of money is involved, the cricketers’ lives will also get revolutionized and they will be in a better financial state.
