Ranji Trophy 2022-23: 8-Wicket Haul Against Delhi, Career Best Spell By Jaydev Unadkat

Date:

On his comeback to the Ranji Trophy, he began 2023 by taking a hat-trick in his first over. He went on to record a career-high 8 for 39 against Delhi in Rajkot.

Both as a bowler and captain, Unadkat is in the middle of an incredible run. He took the most wickets for Saurashtra last month when they won the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 19 wickets in 10 games for an economy of 3.33. Unadkat then picked up his first Test wicket and finished the game with three wickets as India won the series in Bangladesh 2-0 after earning a Test recall in Mirpur.

This was the first first-over hat trick in the history of the Ranji Trophy. Eventually, Unadkat returned to finish off the tail, and Delhi was dismissed for 133, marking the first occasion in his 98-match first-class career that he has taken eight wickets in an innings.
