    Gerald Coetzee injury

In a big and breaking news for the South Africa cricket team, pace sensation Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the 2nd and the final Test between South Africa and India in Cape Town.

Gerald Coetzee is going through a pelvic inflammation and experienced a lot of discomfort during the 2nd innings of the Indian cricket team in Centurion. The South African team management has decided against taking a risk and he has been released from the squad for the 2nd Test.

The 2nd Test begins from 3rd January 2024 and will be taking place at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. We can expect an absolute crackerjack of a contest in this match as India looks to stage a comeback in the 2nd Test.

India hasn’t been able to win a Test series in South Africa ever and this will still remain as a frontier for them. The Indians will have to wait for another tour to change this narrative as the maximum they can achieve in this series, is a draw.

In the first game in Centurion, Coetzee took one wicket, but the board hasn’t yet decided on a replacement. The fast bowler’s recuperation timetable has not yet been disclosed.

Gerald Coetzee had a forgettable outing in Centurion

Gerald Coetzee managed to pick up only 1 wicket at Centurion and had conceded 74 runs in 16 overs and ended up being the most expensive South African bowler. Mohammad Siraj was the batter dismissed by the youngster.

In the 2nd innings, the 23-year-old cricketer managed to bowl only 5 overs before being taken off the field. We wish him a speedy recover and hope that he returns back to the South African Test team, quite soon.

Coetzee had bagged 20 wickets in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and was the highest wicket-taker for South Africa in this competition. The youngster punched above his weight and delivered the goods with the white-cherry.

Following his impressive outing in India, Coetzee was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auctions, which took place in Dubai on 19th December 2023.

MI signed Coetzee for Rs. 5 crores at the auctions and he will be replacing Jofra Archer in the Mumbai Indians setup, hoping to prove his mettle and showcase his skills in his maiden IPL.

Several South African pacers have made a name for themselves in the cash-rich IPL and this is now a perfect opportunity for Gerald Coetzee to prove himself.
