Trent Rockets has suffered a big blow ahead of their The Hundred 2023 campaign as their star spinner in the form of Rashid Khan has withdrawn from the tournament. He has suffered an injury and will be unavailable with his services.
Rashid Khan was slated to play the first 3 games of The Hundred 2023 before leaving for international duty. He has now officially removed himself from selection in the tournament through an undisclosed and unspecified ‘injury’.
This is indeed a big blow to Trent Rockets as the team was hinging their expectations on the star 24-year-old leg spinner. Rashid Khan is a world-class spinner and is presently the number 1 ranked T20I bowler in the world.
He was slated to play the first 3 games of The Hundred and was set to be replaced by Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi. Imad Wasim of Pakistan will now replace Rashid Khan in the tournament.
“I’m really disappointed to have to withdraw from The Hundred through injury,” Rashid said. “It’s been great to play in the competition the first two years, Trent Rockets is a great team, and I hope to be back again next year,” said Rashid Khan.
Rashid Khan recently plied his trade for MI New York
The 24-year-old spinner recently played in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket 2023. He was representing MI New York, who became the eventual champions of the league after beating Seattle Orcas in the finals.
With 8 wickets in 6 games, Rashid Khan finished as the 2nd highest wicket-taker of MI New York. He had an economy of 8.20 in the entire tournament.
